Component: Strategic Research 


Strategic research on climate resilience in the area of plant protection includes development of data base for assessment of field level impact of climate change on insect pests and diseases through implementation of ICT based pest surveillance in select agro climatic zones for major crops in addition to prediction of pest scenarios for future climate change.

MODELLING INSECT PESTS AND DISEASES UNDER CLIMATE CHANGE AND DEVELOPMENT OF DIGITAL TOOLS FOR PEST MANAGEMENT (2017-2020)

Major Activities

  • Quantification of effect of climate change insect pests and diseases using RTPD data base [Target crops: rice, pigeonpea, groundnut and tomato]

  • Development/refinement of pest forecast models and their validation

  • Development of ICT/digital tools for delivery of pest management advisories
